When he said the Khoi Khoi and Khoisan and then Khoisan were called bushman I knew he is capping…cause I'm Xhosa and those ethnic groups lived amongs us for centuries and intermarried prior any portuguese,dutch,britsh people ever set foot down here…I mean the same people who wrote this distorted history still say Khoisa when trying to pronounce Xhosa….hayi kunzima😂

A few mistakes: The Nguni people did not arrive in South Africa around the same time that Westerners did. There are diaries by Portuguese sailors mentioning well established Zulu settlements in Natal more than a 100 years before Jan van Riebeeck arrived in the Cape. Also, only a fraction of Afrikaners left the Cape to join the Great Trek. And 'life expectancy' is mostly determined by the ratio of infant mortality to adult deaths. In other words the more babies that die, the lower a population's average life expectancy. <edit> Other than that, great video and thank you!

Very insightful, as a white South-African I find the history lesson very interesting, much sadness for everyone in some shape or form, black, white, British, Xhoi etc. Everyone has suffered pain and loss in our beautiful country South-Africa. May God help us to learn from history and learn to appreciate and love each other.

He left out Mfecane, Shaka's crushing and genocide of his own people. 2 million killed. Nongqawuse, the Xhosa prophetess that caused a famine costing 60 000 lives. Mzilikazi' great Road… Path of blood. Or Swaziland… once Khoisan country, but forced out by Nguni and Sotho tribes, or Lesthoto? Chief Mashoeshoe taking refuge up in the mountains also displaced the San. And all this while the total black population in 1800 was 1.44 million. But of course… this history has to be ignored because it does not fit the narrative that endorses the present"justified" hate.

Churchill is often credited with the saying: “Those who forget the Past are condemned to repeat it” (George Santayana is actually the one who came up with that phrase).
“The only thing we learn from history is that we don't learn anything from history" is usually credited to Hegel. George Bernard Shaw is also sometimes credited with this one.

I'm just here for the small subtleties and details since im writing a paper critiquing colonial education, remembef folks, it matters who tell the story of the aftermath of war, is it the victor or is the defeated/suffered? coloniser vs colonised?. It matters because the Victor's narrative will always find a reason for his victory in the story, so that it becomes natural to appreciate the regarded inevitability of his victory. It is for that reason the 'Suffered' must always hold the narrative of the Victor with acute suspiscion.
